Nicholasville, KY : Six people dead, 4 people injured after vehicle crash on Thusday nigt June 26th 2014.
Six people, including three children, were killed and four were injured Thursday night after a station wagon traveling north on U.S. 27 in Nicholasville lost control, crossed the median and hit a van head-on, police said.
Nicholasville Police patrolman Todd White, a member of the collision reconstruction unit, said police are considering the possibility that road rage or reckless driving by the driver of the station wagon caused him to lose control of the vehicle.
White said that part of the road is heavily traveled and there were a number of witnesses, including some who said the station wagon may have been tailgating or trying to pass another northbound vehicle.
"It was a horrific crash," White said. "I've never seen anything like this."
White said police were not sure yet whether alcohol was involved.
None of the victims was immediately identified.
There were five passengers in each vehicle. White said the man, woman and three children — two girls and a boy — in the station wagon were killed. One woman in the van was killed.
The injured were taken to the University of Kentucky Chandler Hospital. A hospital spokeswoman said she could not comment on their condition.
White said at least two of the injured had been in surgery Thursday night, though he didn't know the extent of their injuries.
