Durham, N.C : Woman dies after helpful son crashes into disabled SUV on Sunday, Sep 20, 2015
A Durham woman is dead after a car driven by her son who was arriving to help slammed into a disabled SUV, causing it to roll over onto her.
Durham Police say 51-year-old Beverly Bennett of Durham died early Sunday. She was a passenger in a 2006 Ford Expedition driven by her daughter that was parked on the road's shoulder with a flat tire.
Her 29-year-old son was arriving at the scene to help when his car hit the SUV as Bennett was stepping out of the vehicle's passenger door. The impact caused the SUV to roll over onto her.
She was pronounced dead at the scene after police officers arrived around 2 a.m.
