Ness City, KS : 21 injured in Ness County bus crash on Tuesday, 18th December 2018

The Kansas Highway Patrol has identified the 19 students and two adults that were injured Tuesday night in a two-vehicle crash involving a school bus.

Twenty students and two adults were injured Tuesday night when a school bus carrying the Ness City High School basketball team collided with a pickup, authorities said.

The KHP listed the students as both female and male, with ages ranging from 14 to 18 years old. All students were listed as having a suspected minor injury.

The bus driver was identified as Steven Wesley Proctor, 60, of Ness City. The KHP listed Proctor as having a possible injury and complaining of pain.

The driver of the pickup, William Robert Leikam, 70, of Hays, was listed as having a suspected minor injury.

The 22 people — both drivers and 20 passengers of the bus — were treated at Ness County Hospital in Ness City.

Kansas Highway Patrol Trooper Mike Racy told The Topeka Capital-Journal that around 9:15 p.m. Tuesday, KHP troopers responded to the crash on K-96 at J. Road in Ness County.
