Loup City, NE : 26-year-old driver dead and passenger injured in rollover crash on North River Road near Loup City on Sunday, April 5, 2015

Authorities say a 26-year-old driver has been killed and his passenger injured during a rollover crash in central Nebraska.

The Sherman County Sheriff's Office says the accident occurred around 5 p.m. Sunday on a county road about four miles north of Loup City. Robert Evans, of Loup City, was driving north when he lost control of his vehicle and it rolled, ejecting him. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

His passenger was 22-year-old Amanda Johnson, also of Loup City. She was taken to a Kearney hospital.

The Sheriff's Office blamed the accident on excessive speed.
