Millersville, MD : Woman in critical condition following accident in Millersville on Sunday, February 28, 2016
A woman remains in critical condition after the car she was driving crashed into multiple trees early Sunday morning in Millersville, county police said.
The accident occurred around 3 a.m. on northbound Route 3 just prior to the ramp onto southbound Interstate 97.
Police said Kelsey Malinda Kundin, 26, of Westminster, was driving a 2004 Dodge Neon on northbound Crain Highway when it drifted off the roadway. The car struck numerous trees before coming to a rest in a grassy area off the runway, police said.
Kundin was trapped inside the vehicle and had to be cut free. She was flown by helicopter to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore.
As of Monday morning, she remained at the hospital in critical condition, police said.
The primary cause of the accident is Kundin's failure to remain in a single lane. As of Monday morning, it was unknown whether speed or alcohol were factors in the crash.
An investigation remains ongoing. Any charges are pending review by the county State's Attorney's Office, police said.
