Durant, OK : Two injured in motorcycle wrecks on Thursday, 18th August, 2016
Two people were injured Thursday in separate motorcycle wrecks, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol said.
Seventy-five-year-old Robert E. Kennan of Wesley, Ark., was taken by Bryan County EMS to Texoma Medical Center, Denison, Texas, where he was listed in critical condition with multiple injuries.
Thirty-seven-year-old James N. Mason of Coleman also was taken to TMC by Bryan County EMS. He is listed in critical condition with multiple injuries.
According to OHP, Kennan was operating a motorcycle at 1:33 p.m. on Highway 70 in Mead when his cycle traveled off the roadway and struck a curb which caused the bike to roll. The rider, who was wearing a helmet, was thrown five feet from the motorcycle.
Driver inattention was cited in Trooper Steve Nabors’ report as the cause of the crash. Trooper B.J. Keeling, the Bryan County Sheriff’s Office and West Bryan County Fire-Rescue assisted at the scene.
OHP said Mason was traveling on Highway 48 north of Kenefic at 5:59 p.m. when his motorcycle traveled off the roadway and struck a tree.
Mason, who was not wearing a helmet, was thrown approximately 22 feet. The cause of this accident is under investigation and according to a report by Trooper Robby Keeling, Mason had an odor of alcohol.
Troopers Kyle Ince, Steve Nabors and Joshua Christian assisted in the investigation. The Bryan County Sheriff’s Office and Bryan County EMS also assisted at the scene.
