Baton Rouge,LA : Mississippi woman charged for fatal hit-and-run in Louisiana on October, Sunday 2nd 2017
A Mississippi woman has been arrested following a fatal hit-and-run in Louisiana.
Senior Trooper Dustin Dwight with the Louisiana State Police said 59-year-old Albert Watson was driving on Interstate 12 early Sunday morning when his car was hit from behind and thrown off the road by a car driven by 52-year-old Deana Collier of Sandersville, Mississippi. Dwight says Watson was not wearing a seat belt, and died at a hospital.
News outlets report that Collier did not pull over or call 911 after hitting Watson's car. Instead, police said she kept driving for about a quarter-mile (nearly half a kilometer) after the collision.
Authorities said Collier performed poorly on a sobriety test and was charged with vehicular homicide and felony hit-and-run.
It's unclear if Collier has a lawyer.
