INDIANAPOLIS, IN : Woman killed, 2 others critically injured following crash on Indy’s east side on July, Tuesday 4th 2017
Police say one person was killed and two others were critically injured following a crash on the east side of Indianapolis Tuesday morning.
The two-car crash occurred around 11:30 a.m. near the intersection of 12th Street and Mitthoefer Road.
Investigators believe a car traveling north on Mitthoefer crossed the center line and crashed head-on into a southbound vehicle. Two male drivers and a female passenger were critically injured.
Bystander and former Paramedic Jason Work was pulling out of the nearby Speedway gas station when he heard the crash and ran over to help. Quickly assessing the situation, he realized the woman passenger was in cardiac arrest. He pulled a bag valve mask out of his car and began assisting her with ventilations. When IFD Engine 41 arrived, they asked for additional medic and extrication units. They assumed patient care for the female from Work, removed her from the car, and loaded her into Medic 41 for emergent transport to Methodist Hospital. She passed away a short time later.
Investigators do not believe alcohol to be a factor in this crash.
