MARICOPA, AZ : Motorcyclist killed after fleeing traffic stop in Maricopa on Thursday, 1st February 2024

A motorcyclist has died after reportedly fleeing a traffic stop in Maricopa early Thursday morning.

Authorities say that at 3 a.m., a Maricopa police officer attempted to pull over a motorcyclist along John Wayne Parkway. The rider initially stopped near John Wayne Parkway and Honeycutt Road but soon sped off. Police say the rider then crashed less than a mile away on Alterra Parkway and died at the scene.

The Pinal County Sheriff’s Office is assisting the Maricopa Police Department with the investigation. The motorcyclist’s name hasn’t been released.
