One person was killed on Friday afternoon in a crash 4 miles west of Arnegard on Highway 85.
Duane Lindgren, 64, of Fergus Falls, Minn., was driving a 2016 Toyota Highlander from Fergus Falls to Fairview, Mont., and Allen Parkinson, 52, of Sugar City, Idaho, was driving a 2004 GMC Envoy from Williston to Watford City, according to the North Dakota Highway Patrol.
Parkinson lost control of his vehicle as it began to rotate counter-clockwise and entered the westbound lanes. Lindgren's vehicle struck the Envoy on the passenger side, the Highway Patrol reported.
Lindgren's vehicle rotated clockwise and came to rest upright, facing east in the left lane of the westbound lanes. Parkinson's vehicle rotated clockwise and exited the roadway to the north and into a nearby ditch, the Highway Patrol reported.
Parkinson's passenger, a 51-year-old female from Roberts, Idaho, died at the scene, the Highway Patrol reported. All other occupants were transported to the hospital. The name of the deceased has not been released.
The crash remains under investigation and no charges have been filed.
