SAFFORD, AZ : Safford woman hospitalized after minor vehicle accident on Sunday, December 4th, 2016

An accident in the area of Safford United Postal Service Office reportedly led a woman in her 50s to have a heart attack.

Keana Trujillo was driving a passenger car with her boyfriend and his grandmother. Trujillo was driving toward the traffic light at 5th Avenue south and 5th Street while Bob Torres was attempting to turn left onto 5th Street.While approaching the light, Trujillo said, “I tried to brake and slow down, but my brakes didn’t function. So I slammed on the brakes as I got closer to the light.”

The effort was unsuccessful and Trujillo hit the truck driven by Torres.

Safford Police said the victim suffered from neck and back pain as well as the reported heart attack. No other injuries were reported.
