Lewiston, ME : Mother, children injured in Norway crash on Sunday, July 24, 2016

Two vehicles went off the road Sunday when they sideswiped, sending three people to the hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening, police said.

Cpl. Mitch Shaw said Brandon Lessard, 16, of Oxford was driving down Lake Road at 9:30 a.m. when he looked away for a moment and swerved into the opposite lane, sideswiping the oncoming vehicle.

According to Shaw, the other vehicle was driven by Holly Elmer, 34, of Utah, who had her children, a seven-month-old and a 4-year-old, in the back seat.

Elmer and her children were taken to Stephens Memorial Hospital for observation, but did not sustain serious injuries, Shaw said.

Both vehicles were heavily damaged.
