NEILLSVILLE, WI : Clark County crash injures 13 soldiers on Thursday, October, 19th 2017
Thirteen soldiers were injured last week after a military convoy drove into bales of insulation that had fallen from a truck in the Clark County village of Unity.
According to the Clark County sheriff’s office:
Wade T. Oehmichen, 37, was hauling insulation Friday when he turned south on Highway 13 from Highway K. When the truck turned, its load shifted and several bales of insulation fell onto the road. A northbound semitrailer truck driven by Bruce W. Severance, 64, struck the insulation, causing the bails to come apart and fly into the air.
A southbound military truck headed for Fort McCoy stopped when the bales were struck, causing two rear-end crashes from other military vehicles in the convoy. Drivers in the convoy involved in the crash were Hunter M. Plamann, 20; Levi T. Parker, 26; and Camren J. Armbrust, 21.
All 13 soldiers were transported to a Marshfield hospital for minor injuries.
