Anderson, IN : Driver has been arrested on charges of hitting a woman then driving away before she was hit by another car and died on Saturday night September 27th 2014
Police in central Indiana say a driver has been arrested on charges of hitting a woman then driving away before she was hit by another car and died.
Anderson police say 58-year-old Ava Conley faces felony charges of failing to stop at an accident for hitting 26-year-old Keri Winningham as she walked along a city street Saturday night.
The Herald Bulletin reports Conley told investigators she was driving home from a bar when she hit Winningham. Conley told police she saw the woman get up and start limping but was afraid to stop because she had a false registration for her car.
Winningham died at the scene after being hit by another car whose driver stopped.
Conley was jailed and it wasn't clear whether she had an attorney.
