ANDERSON, IN : Two people were taken to the hospital with injuries suffered in an accident on May, Thursday, 25th 2017
Two people were taken to the hospital with injuries suffered in an accident on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard in Anderson on Thursday morning.
Dispatchers reported that there were serious personal injuries and entrapment. However, first responders were able to quickly remove the passengers from each vehicle through the passenger side doors.
The crash of a red Chevrolet Blazer and a red Dodge truck was reported around 10:15 a.m. Thursday.
Sgt. Greg Reed of Anderson Fire Department said he was unsure of how severe the injuries to the passengers were. He said he could not release details of what exactly happened to cause the accident because the incident is still under investigation.
Gas was spilled during the accident. Reed said he tried to quickly block the sewer drains when he arrived to the scene, so he believes most of the spill was contained.
However, as of 10:30 a.m., he was unsure of if Hazmat crews would need to be called to clean up the spill.
The accident happened just after a flood warning was issued in Anderson from the National Weather Service that is in effect until 12:30 a.m. Saturday.
