Pittsburgh, PA : Driver dead, 4 injured in two-car crash that ends state police chase on Interstate 376 in Pittsburgh on Wednesday, July 1, 2015

State police say the driver of a car being chased by troopers was killed and four others were hurt when he crashed into another vehicle while exiting Interstate 376 in Pittsburgh.

The state police patrol the interstate, even in the city, and stopped the vehicle about 2:30 a.m. Wednesday.

Trooper Matthew Jardine, a state police spokesman, says the car sped away as the approaching trooper smelled marijuana coming from the vehicle.

The car crashed into another while exiting, killing the driver and injuring three passengers in the vehicle being pursued. The fourth person injured was the lone passenger in the other car.

Police haven't released the names of those being chased, but say two passengers in that car were armed and a third was wanted for an unspecified crime.
