OXFORD, ME : Serious injury and a fatality reported in Oxford crash on Thursday, August 24, 2017

A LifeFlight helicopter was sent to Route 121 late Thursday after a car with two people slammed into a utility pole.WGME reports were that the passenger, in his 20s, had died after the 10:30 p.m. crash and the other was taken to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston.

Emergency crews from Oxford and Poland had to use extrication tools to get to the victims a short distance from Route 26.

Central Maine Power was called to shut electrical power to the area as emergency crews responded. By 11 p.m., police and fire crews were at the scene with a section of Route 121 closed to traffic.
