Studio City, CA : 22-year-old motorist died, passenger injured a single- vehicle crash on the 101 Freeway on Sunday, Sep 6, 2015
A 22-year-old motorist was killed and his passenger, a 21-year-old woman, escaped with minor injuries during a single- vehicle crash on the 101 Freeway in Studio City, authorities said Sunday.
The motorist was later identified as Arturo Sanchez Jr., said Lt. Fred Corral of the coroner’s office.
The crash on the northbound freeway, just south of the Ventura (134) Freeway, occurred at 2:25 a.m Saturday, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Sanchez was driving a 2000 Pontiac at an unknown speed when he allowed the car to travel too far to the right into the dirt median, the CHP said. The Pontiac then traveled to the right of the dirt median and struck a cement pillar.
Sanchez died at the scene and paramedics rushed the woman to Cedars- Sinai Medical Center with minor injuries. It was not immediately known if drugs or alcohol were a factor in the crash.
