Springfield, IL : Woman killed in crash near Pleasant Plains identified on Thursday, December 22nd 2016

Olga Chavez, 61, of Beardstown has been identified as the woman killed in a two-vehicle crash Thursday afternoon on Illinois 125 near Pleasant Plains.

Chavez was pronounced dead at Memorial Medical Center at 5 p.m., about 45 minutes after the crash, according to the Sangamon County coroner's office. Preliminary autopsy results indicated she died of blunt force injuries sustained in the crash.

Chavez was a passenger in a minivan driven by Roberto Atriano-Rodriguez, 59, which was headed east on the highway and for some reason veered into the westbound lane and hit nearly head-on a car driven by Omar Gayosso-Fernandez, 25.

Both drivers as well as five other passengers in the vehicles were all from Beardstown. Everyone was taken to Memorial Medical Center. Their conditions were not available Friday.
