Beckley, WV : Motorcycle crash sends two to Beckley hospital on Thursday, 11th August, 2016

Two people were transported to a Beckley hospital after their motorcycle was struck by a car at a busy intersection Thursday night.

The driver of a silver Chevrolet was making a left hand turn from Robert C. Byrd onto North Kanawha Street when she struck a motorcycle stopped at the light on Kanawha around 8:40 p.m., said Beckley Police Sgt. J.L. Wilhite.

The two motorcyclists — a man and woman — suffered “pretty severe injuries,” he said.

The driver of the Chevrolet was charged with failure to yield right of way and causing a collision, said Wilhite.A portion of Robert C. Byrd Drive and North Kanawha Street were shut down while the investigation was conducted.

Patrol Officer C. Diggs and Cpl. M.R. Deems assisted in the investigation, along with the Beckley Fire Department.
