Atlas, IL : Two drivers injured in three-car crash in Pike County on Friday afternoon, April 29, 2016

Two drivers were injured in a three-vehicle crash Friday afternoon in western Pike County.

According to the Illinois State Police, Billy Knight, 72, of Pleasant Hill, was driving west on U.S. 54 about three miles west of Atlas when the 2007 Chevrolet Impala he was driving crossed the center line. The police think he crossed the line because of a medical emergency. His car collided head on with a 2013 Hyundai sedan being driven east by Robert G. Carter, 74, of Mexico, Mo.

Tiffany M. Harper, 18, of Hollister, Mo., was unable to avoid the colliding vehicles and struck the Hyundai's passenger side before bringing her 2010 Chevrolet Impala to a stop in a field.

Knight was taken to Illini Hospital in Pittsfield. Carter was taken to Pike County Memorial in Louisiana, Mo., via private vehicle for observation. Harper was not injured.
