Shelbyville ,KY : Woman killed in Shelby County crash; man and child hospitalized on Friday afternoon ,July 3rd 2015

Police say a woman was killed in Shelby County when the car she was riding in drifted off the road and flipped end-over-end.

La Grange Road (KY 53) was closed in both directions north of Shelbyville as investigators look into what caused the wreck, according to the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet. The crash was reported near the 3300 block around 4 p.m. Friday.

A female passenger was pronounced dead at the scene, Major Jason Rice with the Shelby County Sheriff's Office said. The driver - a man - and a child were taken to Louisville area hospitals as a precautionary measure. Rice said neither had injuries that appeared to be life-threatening.

Police are still investigating the crash, but believe fatigue may have been a factor.

The roadway was reopened shortly after 6 p.m.

The identity of the woman killed in the crash has not yet been released.
