Columbus, GA : Salem man dies after motorcycle wreck on Victory Drive on Thursday, May 12, 2016

A Salem, Ala., man is dead after his motorcycle crashed into another vehicle late Thursday on Victory Drive, according to officials.

Christopher McMillion, 25, was pronounced dead at 10:36 p.m., said Muscogee County Coroner Buddy Bryan. His body will be sent for an autopsy at the GBI crime lab in Decatur, Ga.

McMillion’s cause of death hasn't been confirmed, Bryan said, but the wreck caused head, chest and lower extremity injuries.

Columbus police said they were called to the scene shortly after the collision happened at 9:21 p.m.

An investigation indicated that McMillion was traveling southeast on Victory Drive in the far left lane as a 30-year-old woman driving a 2012 Chrysler 200 headed northwest on the same roadway.

The woman was attempting to make a U-turn at the intersection of Victory Drive and Jackson Avenue when the front end of McMillion’s 2002 Honda CBR 900 struck the rear of her Chrysler. As a result of the impact he was ejected from his motorcycle, officials said in an accident report.

One witness said the man didn’t have any time to react before striking the vehicle and another witness told authorities that the woman made the U-turn in front of the motorcycle.

It’s unclear if there will be any pending charges related to the wreck, but there were no citations listed on the police report.
