Anchorage, AK : Two people seriously injured after collision with moose Sunday on Parks Highway on Sunday night, Aug 23, 2015
Two people were hospitalized with serious injuries Sunday night on the Parks Highway when their car collided with a moose, Alaska State Troopers wrote in a dispatch Monday.
Troopers were notified of the collision just before 11 p.m. Sunday, at mile 107.5 of the Parks Highway, in the area of Tapper Creek.
Investigations revealed that 53-year-old Ernest Shipman of Fairbanks was driving southbound on the highway with three other people in the car when an adult cow moose walked onto the road.
"Shipman collided with the moose causing the moose to go into and through the windshield," troopers wrote.
Both Shipman and a passenger received serious but non-life threatening injuries. The passenger was transported to Providence Medical Center via LifeMed and Shipman was taken to Mat-Su Regional by ambulance along with two juveniles who suffered minor injuries.
