An 85-year-old woman is dead after a three-vehicle crash on Route 7 in Norwalk Tuesday afternoon.
Selma Spector, 85 of Ledge Road, in Darien, was pronounced dead at Norwalk Hospital after the accident that happened around 3:30 p.m. on Route 7 southbound, between Exits 2 and 1, according to State Police. She was a passenger in a vehicle that overturned and traveled 75 feet down an embankment.
Police said a 2014 Honda Pilot SUV driven by Vera Manevich, 66, of Stamford, was traveling southbound on Route 7 when it was struck by a 2008 Honda Civic LX, driven by Christian Santiago, 21, of Wayne Street in Bridgeport.
After being struck, the Honda Pilot “rolled over in the roadway, then continued south traveling over the metal beam guardrail before coming to a final rest about 75 feet down a wooded embankment,” according to the accident report.
After hitting the Honda Pilot, Santiago’s vehicle spun out of control, striking a 2008 Ford ECO, driven by Charlie Arello, 28, of White Plains, N.Y. Santiago’s Honda Civic ended up in the grass median of the highway. Arello’s vehicle stopped in the left lane.
Manevich, the driver of the Pilot was taken Norwalk Hospital with life-threatening injuries. Spector was pronounced dead in the hospital’s emergency room.
State Police are continuing to investigate the crash. No arrests have been made.
