Cushing, ME : Teen injured in a car crash on Saturday morning, Oct 3, 2015

A 17-year-old man was flown from the scene of a car crash late Saturday morning.

The teen, whose name was not released, was flown by a LifeFlight helicopter to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston. His condition was not immediately available but the Knox County Sheriff's Office reported that he was complaining of pain in his entire body.

The crash occurred shortly before noon on the River Road in Cushing on a curve about two miles south of Spear's Mill Road. The youth had been driving north on the River Road faster than the posted speed limit when he missed the curve, crossed the centerline, overcorrected and went off the road, crashing into a Central Maine Power pole, the Sheriff's Office reported in a news release.

The pole was moved 14 inches by the impact.

The Jaws of Life extrication equipment from the Warren Fire Department had to be used to remove the driver.

Thomaston police notified family members and brought them to the scene. Deputy Paul Spear is investigating the crash. Thomaston police, Cushing Rescue, Rockland Emergency Medical Services, Cushing Fire and Warren Fire departments assisted.
