Marietta, GA : Man struck and killed by vehicle in Atlanta's northwest suburbs on Sunday morning, March 1, 2015

Police say a pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle in Atlanta's northwest suburbs.

Cobb County police said in a statement that the collision happened early Sunday morning on Windy Hill Road, just east of Cobb Parkway in Marietta.

Investigators say the driver of a blue 2000 Ford Crown Victoria was heading east on Windy Hill Road. They say a man attempted to cross Windy Hill Road and was struck as he abruptly entered the eastbound lanes.

Police say the pedestrian, whose identify wasn't immediately known, was taken by ambulance to Wellstar Kennestone Hospital, where he died.

Investigators are asking that anyone with information that might help police identify the man who died is asked to call Cobb County police.
