Joliet, IL : Teen Critically Injured in Joliet Hit-and-Run on Monday, May 12th 2014

John Severson, 59, is charged in a hit-and-run crash that seriously injured a 14-year-old girl in Joliet.

The girl was crossing in the 1900 block of South Chicago Street, a four lane highway, from the Route 66 Plaza to the Pheasant Run apartments when she was struck by a truck at 8:30 p.m. Monday.

Police say Severson, of Elwood, Ill, drove off after the crash, but returned about 30 minutes later. He is charged with leaving the scene of an accident.

The girl is listed in serious condition at Loyola Medical Center.
