Florence,AL : Two Colbert County men died after being injured on April, saturday 29th 2017
Two Colbert County men died after being injured Saturday night in a head-on collision southwest of Tuscumbia.
Authorities said Don Grissom Kimbrough, 63, Hawk Pride Mountain Road, Tuscumbia, and Philip Lee Pounders, 62, Powerline Road, Tuscumbia, died as a result of the accident.
Colbert County Coroner Carlton Utley pronounced Kimbrough dead at the scene.
Pounders died at Helen Keller Hospital in Sheffield. His wife, Fretricia Pounders, 62, was treated and released at Helen Keller Hospital, officials said this afternoon.
The accident happened on Hawk Pride Mountain Road just before 9 p.m., five miles south of U.S. 72.
Reports indicate Kimbrough was driving north in a 2015 Volkswagen on Hawk Pride Mountain Road and Philip Pounders was driving south in a 2003 Chevrolet when the accident happened.
The accident is under investigation by the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency's Quad-Cities State Troopers Post.
