BLUFF CITY, IL : A Brownstown man was killed in a single-vehicle crash on May, Tuesday 9th 2017

A Brownstown man was killed in a single-vehicle crash at 7:43 p.m. Tuesday in Fayette County, the Illinois State Police said.

Kenneth W. Eckhardt, 69, was driving east on County Road 1750N a half mile east of County Road 1250E near Bluff City when his car left the roadway, possibly due to a medical condition, police said. The car went into a ditch and struck a utility pole.

Police said Eckhardt was taken to Fayette County Hospital in Vandalia by ambulance where he succumbed to his injuries.
