2-year-old killed in log truck accident Near Vader Washington

A logging truck spilled its load near Vader, crushing a car and killing a 2-year-old in the back seat.The State Patrol says the accident happened Monday as the vehicles approached each other on a curve on Wildwood Road.The child's mother, 24-year-old Kourtney Kase of Curtis, was seriously injured with head, neck and back injuries. A 24-year-old man in the car had neck pain and facial cuts.
Police say speed was a factor in the accident. The logging truck reportedly drifted over the center line and overcorrected, causing the trailer to break free and roll over.The car had driven off the road and down an embankment to avoid a collision when the logs landed on top of the Ford Escort.The patrol has referred the case to the county prosecutor for possible charges against the truck driver, 46-year-old Rick Rowland of Chehalis
