One Killed, Two Hurt in Queen Anne's County Crash in Maryland
Maryland State Police say one person died and two others were injured after a car and a motorcycle collided with one another and caught fire in Queen Anne's County early Sunday evening.Police said that shortly before 7 p.m., state troopers responded to a serious motor vehicle collision that had just occurred on Maryland Route 18 (Main Street) west of Kent Narrows Way South in Grasonville.Troopers said a preliminary investigation revealed that a 2012 Nissan Versa was traveling westbound on Maryland Route 18 west of Kent Narrows Way South when it crossed the double yellow center line and struck a 2006 Suzuki motorcycle that was traveling eastbound on MD Rt. 18.
As a result of the collision both vehicles caught fire. The driver of the Nissan, identified as Kaitlin Ashley Omara, of Westminster, Md., was transported by ambulance to the Queen Anne's County Emergency Center. The operator of the motorcycle, Perry Cornelius Hunter, of Columbia, Md., and his passenger, Levonne Frances Garvin St. Clair, of Gwynn Oak, Md., were transported by MSP Aviation to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore.Garvin St. Clair was pronounced dead later that same evening, police said.Members of the Grasonville and Kent Island fire departments, as well as Queen Anne's County Paramedics, responded to the scene and assisted.The accident remains under investigation.
