Texarkana, TX : Arkansas High senior injured after three-vehicle wreck on U.S. Highway 82 Wednesday morning, September 21, 2016

An Arkansas High School senior was seriously injured in a three-vehicle accident Wednesday morning on U.S. Highway 82.

Dalton Ryan Jaquess, 18, was transported to CHRISTUS St. Michael Health System and was in the intensive care unit late Wednesday, said Cpl. Kristi Bennett, spokeswoman for Texarkana, Ark., Police Department.

The accident occurred at 7:45 a.m. on U.S. 82 near Ward Road. Accident investigators believe Jaquess ran the stop sign at Ward Road as he was turning westbound onto U.S. 82. His vehicle was struck by a van.

Jaquess and the two people in the van were extricated from their vehicles by Texarkana, Ark., firefighters.

The driver and passenger in the van suffered numerous minor injuries, but were expected to be treated and released.
