JANESVILLE, WI : A fatal crash near I-39 in Rock County on Monday, 5th February 2024

The Janesville Police Department has released details in a fatal crash they were investigating Monday.

Just before 2:45 a.m. one of their officers saw a Buick LeSabre sitting at a flashing red light for a long period of time on east Centerway St. and turned to check out what was going on. According to the release, before they could, police say the car sped off down Milton Avenue.

The Janesville Police Department says their officer did not turn on their lights or sirens to try and chase the car.

Shortly after, the Buick, police say, was noticed fishtailing and driving at approximately 100mph northbound on Milton Ave by an officer conducting a separate stop on Refset Drive.
