LEE, MA : State police identify trucker killed in fiery Lee crash on Monday, October 2, 2017
The Massachusetts State Police have identified the driver of a flatbed tractor-trailer truck killed when the truck crashed and burned Monday as 31-year-old Jordan Hunt, of Genesee, Pennsylvania.
State police at the Massachusetts Turnpike barracks in Westfield said Hunt's truck was traveling east on the Pike near mile marker 12.6 in Lee just after 5:30 p.m. Monday when it slammed into the rear of a double tractor-trailer rig that had slowed for traffic in front of it.
A load of steel rebar on Hunt's flatbed trailer shifted forward and pinned him in the cab. The crash also started the truck on fire.
Sgt. David Douthwright said two off-duty firefighters from Cape Cod and a state trooper tried to rescue Hunt from the burning cab but were unable to save him.
