Springfield, IL : A 50-year-old Morton Grove man was seriously injured following two separate car crash on Tuesday, October, 17th 2017
A 50-year-old Morton Grove man was seriously injured following two separate car crashes in Park Ridge shortly before 7 p.m. Tuesday, police said.
According to preliminary information, the driver was headed west on Touhy Avenue when his 2004 Dodge hit a car near the intersection of Cumberland Avenue, Deputy Police Chief Lou Jogmen said.
The driver did not stop but continued west on Touhy, where witnesses said he drove through a red light at Dee Road, causing a three-car collision and hitting two poles near the intersection, Jogmen said.
Three people, including the driver of the Dodge, were taken to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, and the intersection of Touhy and Dee was closed for four hours while police conducted an investigation, Jogmen said.
Police do not believe alcohol was a factor in the crashes, he said.
Injuries to the driver of the Dodge were described as serious, Jogmen said. He was issued tickets for driving too fast for conditions and disobeying a traffic control signal, police said.
A completed police report on the crashes was not available Thursday.
