VICTORVILLE, CA : A man was hospitalized after he was injured in a crash on Tuesday, September 5, 2017
Authorities said a man was hospitalized after he was injured in a crash Thursday afternoon.
Reported just before 4 p.m., the crash occurred in the 16300 block of Green Tree Boulevard, near Sixth Avenue. A dark gray BMW 335i sedan and a white Matheson tractor-trailer were involved, according to San Bernardino Sheriff’s Department officials on scene.
Ronnie Young, 28, of Victorville, said the driver of the BMW was his 20-year-old nephew, Eric Pollard. Both men were headed east on Green Tree Boulevard in separate vehicles toward Young’s nearby home when the crash occurred.
“He was following me and got stopped at the light,” Young said. “There was a silver Corvette next to him that caused the crash. It either cut him off or something else, which caused Eric to crash with the semi.”
Witnesses on scene reported seeing a Corvette “driving erratically” just before the crash occurred. Scanner traffic reported that a tan-colored Corvette may have caused the crash and was last seen headed east on Green Tree Boulevard. A sheriff’s helicopter was seen patrolling the area, but officials on scene couldn’t confirm if another vehicle was involved.
Sheriff’s officials were tight-lipped on the circumstances of the crash, citing the ongoing investigation, but confirmed both vehicles were headed east when the crash occurred. The BMW struck the back of the tractor-trailer, causing major damages to the sedan.
