Meyersdale, MD : Teen fatally injured in crash on Route 219 in Summit Township Friday, October 21, 2016

A 16-year-old from Hyndman died Sunday of his injuries at Shock Trauma in Baltimore, Maryland, after an accident Friday afternoon near Meyersdale.

State police said at 4:21 p.m. Friday, the 16-year-old from Hyndman and his 17-year-old passenger from Meyersdale, were driving north on Route 219 (Mason Dixon Highway) when they failed to negotiate a left curve and drove into southbound traffic. The vehicle collided head on with another vehicle driven by Joseph Stebbing Jr., 35, of Thurmont, Maryland, who was driving south and negotiating the right hand curve, police said.

The 17-year-old received serious injuries. Stebbing had minor injuries.

The road was closed for nearly seven hours.
