Richmond, VA : South Carolina woman dies in crash in Caroline County on Saturday, April 1, 2017

A South Carolina woman was killed in a single-vehicle crash in Caroline County on Saturday.

The crash occurred at 11:10 a.m. at Route 301 and Gideon Road near the Hanover County line, according to a statement released by Virginia State Police.

A 2015 Subaru Outback was traveling north on Route 301 when it ran off the road to the left, down an embankment and struck a tree.

The driver and sole occupant of the Subaru, Nona L. Bonheimer, 71, of Daniel Island, S.C., died at the scene. She was wearing a seat belt.

The crash remains under investigation.
