South Portland, ME :SUV, tractor trailer collide at mile 45 on I-95 on Tuesday, July 14th 2015

A tractor trailer and SUV collided at mile 45 on the Turnpike Tuesday evening, opposite the Maine Mall.State Police said the SUV was trying to merge when the accident happened. The truck driver, Michael Etsy, said he was hauling about 83,000 pounds of mulch to Skowhegan when a he saw an SUV going very fast. He moved into the left hand lane to give it room, and he said the SUV then hit the side of his truck, sending him over the guardrail. The tractor trailer came to a stop into the southbound lane, facing north, on its side.Much of the mulch fell onto the side of I-95 south median. Out of his 20 years off driving, Etsy said it's his first accident. He said he feels lucky he's not seriously hurt.
