Lake City, FL : Two people injured as car crashes on I-75 in Columbia County on Sunday morning, April 17, 2016
Two people were injured Sunday morning when their speeding vehicle went off the roadway on Interstate 75 in Columbia County, overturned and went partially up an embankment.
The Florida Highway Patrol reported that Michael T. Sanders, 51, of Athens, Georgia was driving a 2014 Volkswagen Jetta at a high rate speed when the accident happened.
The Jetta was going south on the interstate when at mile marker 421 in Columbia County it went off the west side of the road and struck the guardrail face.
The vehicle overturned in the grassy right-of-way then struck a fence and a small tree, the FHP reported. The car hit the County Road 131 overpass embankment and traveled partially up it.
Sanders and passenger Brianna Brown, 27, of Athens, Georgia were transported for medical treatment of serious injuries, the report said.
