HAZELTON,ID : Three injured after crash in construction zone near Hazelton on July, Monday 24th 2017

Three people were taken to a hospital after a crash on Interstate 84 east of the Hazelton exit Monday evening.

Terence Perry, 34, of Normangee, Texas, was driving west on the eastbound side in the one-lane construction zone in a semi-truck towing a trailer when, Idaho State Police said, he struck the rear of a camp trailer being towed by Thomas Drexel, 67, of Tucson, Ariz.

Police said Perry drove through the median and came to rest in the actual westbound lanes. Meanwhile, Michael Sobotka, 59, of Jerome, who was also driving east in a semi-truck pulling a trailer, struck Drexel’s pickup truck in an attempt to avoid the crash, lost control, and overturned his Kenworth.

Sobotka and two of Drexel’s passengers — Shawn Volker, 37, also of Tuscon, and a child — were brought by ambulance to St. Luke’s Magic Valley Medical Center in Twin Falls. Perry and Drexel were not taken to a hospital.
