Florence, KY : One person dead and two others seriously injured after crash in Boone County early Thursday morning, Oct 8, 2015

A Williamstown, Kentucky, man was killed and two others injured after a single-car crash in in Boone County early Thursday.

Joshua Bedel, 34, was driving northbound on Dixie Highway near Melinda Lane when his 2014 Chevrolet vehicle left the roadway and struck a utility pole, according to the Boone County Sheriff's Office.

Bedel was pronounced dead at the scene.

Passengers Randall Wuest, 22, of Florence, and Bradley Upton, 19, of Independence, were taken to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center.

An update on Wuest's and Upton's respective conditions wasn't immediately available.

The Boone County Sheriff's Office is still investigating the crash as of 9 a.m. Thursday.

Dixie Highway was closed in the area of the crash until about 6 a.m.

Duke Energy repaired the utility pole that was struck by Bedel's vehicle.
