Monument, CO : Two rollovers and a fuel leak shut down all northbound lanes of Interstate 25 on Tuesday morning October 7th 2014
Colorado State Patrol reports that all lanes of traffic on northbound Interstate 25 near milepost 161 have been opened following two rollover accidents.
Two rollovers and a fuel leak shut down all northbound lanes of Interstate 25 at the Monument port-of-entry Tuesday, the Colorado State Patrol said.
A semi truck hauling gravel rolled over about 11:15 a.m. and a large maintenance truck rolled over in the same spot about 30 minutes later, Trooper Nate Reid said.
All traffic is being detoured through the port-of-entry ramp, Reid said, and there was no estimate on how long the highway would be shut down.
One of the drivers was taken to a local hospital for non life-threatening injuries, the state patrol said.
It was unclear what caused the rollovers, but Reid said the trucks did not appear to have struck each other or any other vehicles.
Earlier, a three-car wreck stalled traffic on southbound Interstate 25 south of the Academy Boulevard exit for more than an hour during Tuesday morning's commute.
One person involved in the crash was taken to a local hospital as a precaution but there were no injuries reported, according to Reid.
The wreck clogged up traffic flow from about 7:45 a.m. to 9 a.m., when Reid said the cars were towed.
