A 17-year-old girl died in a one-car rollover accident in the 300 block of Woodside Drive west of Longview Friday morning, according to the Cowlitz County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies found a gray Subaru passenger car on its top on the shoulder of the road. The victim was found alone in the car, unresponsive but still wearing a seat belt. She was declared dead at the scene, according to the sheriff’s office.
The car had been southbound on Woodside Drive in a 35 mph zone when it entered a corner, struck an embankment on the passenger side and then rolled onto its top. Investigators believe speed may have contributed to the accident, which occurred just before 9 a.m. The sheriff’s office said there was no indication that alcohol was involved.
Woodside Drive is a rural road located in the Coal Creek area west of Longview.
The victim’s family has been notified, but her name is not being released pending further investigation.
