GOSHEN, IN : 13-year-old boy injured in truck accident on Saturday, 21st April 2018

A 13-year-old boy chasing a ball into a street was struck by a pickup truck Saturday morning.

The accident happened at 11:51 a.m.

According to the accident report submitted by the Goshen Police, the boy said he was chasing a ball and did not see the vehicle coming. The boy was hit on 8th Street, north of Center Street.

He was struck on the right side of his body. Police noted that the injury was considered incapacitating. The report indicated that there was minor bleeding and the injury appeared to be on the knee, lower leg and foot. He was transported to the hospital from the scene.

The truck did not stop, according to witnesses. It is described as brown in color with damage to to the bug guard, likely caused by the impact with the boy. Small pieces of the bug guard were found in the roadway.

Police have faulted the boy for the accident.
