Authorities say a one-car crash in upstate New York has left one woman dead.

State troopers say a highway department worker in the Herkimer County town of Ohio found a car overturned down an embankment on Thursday morning. Authorities say 42-year-old Brandy Whitaker of nearby Cold Brook failed to negotiate a turn, went off the road and ended up down the embankment.

She was pronounced dead at the scene.

The crash remains under investigation.
