TAMPA, FL : Two people from Lakeland were seriously injured in a one-car crash on Thursday, July 20, 2017

Two people from Lakeland were seriously injured Thursday afternoon in a one-car crash on Interstate 75 north of Fletcher Avenue, the Florida Highway Patrol reported.

Eric Ortiz, 36, and Arlene Ortiz, 32, both of Lakeland suffered serious injuries and were taken to Tampa General Hospital for treatment.
According to FHP, Eric Ortiz was driving a 2008 Honda Civic north on I-75 about 4 p.m. when, for unknown reasons, he lost control of the car, which ran off the highway, collided with several small trees and overturned on its left side.
Both Ortizes were wearing seat belts. The accident was not alcohol related.
