Lansing, MI : Motorcyclist dies in Allendale crash on Monday, July 31, 2017
A 55-year-old Grand Rapids man has died after being struck by a car while riding his motorcycle in Allendale Township.
Gregory Lewis Pierson was pronounced dead on the scene of an accident that took place at 9:04 p.m. on Monday, July 31, on 48th Avenue, north of Lake Michigan Drive near Grand Valley State University.
Initial investigations from the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office show that Pierson, who was traveling southbound on 48th Avenue, was struck by a car driven by 22-year-old Lynsey Marie Raschke of Highland, Mich. Raschke was turning into University Park off of 48th Avenue and struck Pierson’s motorcycle.
GVSU police officers who were nearby also responded to the scene and police immediately began performing CPR on Pierson, continuing care until Life EMS paramedics arrived. Sgt. Cal Keuning said Pierson was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, and paramedics determined his injuries were fatal, pronouncing him deceased at the scene.
