POCATELLO, ID : Pocatello police officer crashes motorcycle while on patrol on Monday, 5th September 2016

A city police officer was transported to the hospital early Monday evening after crashing his motorcycle on Interstate 15.

The incident happened around 6:50 p.m. while the Pocatello police officer was on patrol on the interstate near the Clark Street exit.

Police said the officer lost control of his motorcycle and crashed. There were no other vehicles involved in the accident.

The police officer reported the crash himself and police and fire units responded to the wreck.

The officer was transported via Pocatello Fire Department ambulance to Portneuf Medical Center, where he was treated and released.

Police said the officer will likely miss a few days from work because of his injuries but he is expected to make a full recovery.

The officer's name was not released by police Tuesday night.
